Airport parking rates revised

Chisinau, Aug. 7 /MOLDPRES/- Chisinau International Airport's multi-story car parking rates have been revised. The airport administration made the statement after Prime Minister Dorin Recean said today that the decision to increase prices is wrong and requested its review.

According to the new rates, over 90% of the beneficiaries, most citizens of the Republic of Moldova will park for free or at the old rate of 10 lei per hour. In addition, the time for free parking increases from 15 minutes to 45 minutes. The new rates will come into effect from 8 August.

According to a press release of the Chisinau International Airport, the first three hours of parking will be at a rate of 10 lei per hour, and for the following hours - between 4-10 hours - the rate will be 20 lei/hour. For a period of 1-7 days, the rate will be 200 lei/day. To prevent abuses, starting from the eighth day of parking, the rate will be 400 lei/day.

The airport administration said that about 93% of the parked cars have a stationary time of a maximum of three hours.

Last week, there were several reactions in the public space from passengers dissatisfied that the parking fee at the Chisinau International Airport was doubled, from 10 to 20 lei. Later, with a reaction in this case came the airport administrator, Constantin Vozian, who assured that the airport officials will come "with an extensive analysis of the parking activity".

Today, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said that the decision of the Chisinau International Airport to increase the price for car parking is wrong and requested a review of the decision.
