Rail passengers to benefit from better travel conditions

Chisinau, August 14 /MOLDPRES/- The government approved today new measures regulating rail transport services, as well as the rights and obligations of passengers. According to the regulations, passengers will benefit from more protection and personal safety, better travel conditions and easier access to accurate information provided in a timely manner.
The new rules apply to both domestic and international travel, in accordance with the quality standards applied in all EU member states.
Thus, the project provides for the creation of conditions for access and availability of equipment on board for people with disabilities and for those with reduced mobility. They will have the possibility to be accompanied on board the train by a person entitled to free travel.
The document also sets out assistance and compensation mechanisms provided by rail carriers for travelers who experience cancellations or delays. Among them, meals and refreshments offered free of charge to passengers in case of delays, provision of alternative transport services in case of interruption of the railway service, etc.
The implementation of the project involves expenses on the part of the infrastructure administrator and railway companies providing passenger transport services, including for the arrangement of stations and train sets according to the established requirements, as well as the digitization of the way of marketing, notification and communication with passengers.
