Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- It is crucial to strengthen the position of the Republic of Moldova as a security provider in the region and on the continent, so that everyone has confidence in our country. President Maia Sandu made the statement at a meeting of ambassadors organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"We will continue to strengthen cooperation with countries that help us strengthen the defense sector and the security sector. We have made significant efforts and we also have major results in strengthening the defense system, and in large part this is due to the help that comes from several development partners. We must continue this effort. Obviously we should insist on increasing the capacity of the institutions that have to maintain internal order, because the safety of citizens means several elements beyond the defense system. We have political support in the EU institutions, we have political support in the EU member states. We have to work hard, we have to be more efficient in promoting Moldova's interests. We must work as a united team and respectively succeed in ensuring democratic development for our country, succeed in ensuring peace. Let's increase development standards, living standards for our citizens at a much higher rate than has happened so far," the head of state said.

Among the major tasks are: initiating the negotiations for our country's accession to the EU as quickly as possible, recovering the economy and promoting the interests of diaspora.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration organizes in Chisinau on August 16-17, the meeting of the Ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova.
