MPs convene in extraordinary session this week

Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- Parliament convenes in extraordinary session on August 16-17. The standing bureau approved today the decision to convene the Legislature, at the request of Speaker Igor Grosu.
The draft agenda of the plenary session of the extraordinary session of the Parliament includes drafts of normative acts presented by the Government to be examined as a priority, as well as legislative initiatives of the deputies, which regulate different fields.
The Parliament is to ratify the grant agreement with the World Bank, signed on August 9. Financial assistance worth $88.4 million, provided by the US and Switzerland, is available by September 30. Also, the reform of the Restart social assistance system, which provides for changes in 19 laws, will be approved in the second reading.
In the second reading, the project that provides for legislative instruments to support energetically vulnerable households, as well as the project to amend the Education Code, which will provide more facilities for young specialists in the educational system, will be approved. Law on the external evaluation of judges and prosecutors will be re-examined in accordance with the objections expressed by the president of the Republic of Moldova.
According to the Parliament Regulations, if the Legislature is not in ordinary session, it can meet in extraordinary or special sessions, at the request of the head of state, the speaker or one third of the deputies.
