Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- Diplomacy meeting was held today. Attending the event were 40 heads of missions. President Maia Sandu delivered a speech, noting the importance of strengthening our relations with international partners, the MAEIE press service has reported.

Friends of the Republic of Moldova, Foreign Ministers of Romania and Ukraine Luminița Odobescu and Dmytro Kuleba, as well as Secretary of State for European Affairs of France Laurence Boone came with speeches. Today, the results of the last year were evaluated and new tasks were drawn on the following four 4D dimensions: European Development, Dialogue, Diaspora and Economic Diplomacy. Given the directions, the following objectives were planned:

European Development - We obtained the status of a candidate country for EU accession. In this context, our next major objective is to meet nine recommendations set by the European Commission, so that at the end of this year, in the enlargement report, it is recommended to start the accession negotiations of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. It is important to maintain the support of each EU member state.

Dialogue - Continuing to deepen the strategic partnership with Romania, including through concrete projects and supporting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. We will also promote dialogue with strategic partners, including by opening a new embassy of our country in India, and strengthen cooperation with international organizations such as NATO, CoE, UN, OSCE. We will develop our strategic partnership with the United States of America, including by strengthening political dialogue and cooperation within international organizations.

Diaspora - A major priority of the diplomatic service remains to improve consular services so that they are more accessible to our citizens abroad. An objective set for the Ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova is the acceleration of negotiations and the conclusion of agreements for the exchange of driver's licenses, agreements in the social field and cutting roaming tariffs. In addition, it is important that our embassies take a proactive approach in planning and implementing cultural events dedicated to our diaspora community.

Economic Diplomacy - A key direction in this context aims to promote Moldovan agricultural products and wines, with an emphasis on increasing exports, identifying new sales markets and attracting foreign investments to the Republic of Moldova. In addition, we are in dialogue with airlines interested in operating flights to and from Chisinau. At the same time, we aim to find new opportunities to penetrate the Asian markets.
