President, heads of Moldovan diplomatic missions discuss foreign policy

Chisinau, August 16 /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu participated today in a meeting of the ambassadors of the Republic of Moldova, organized in Chisinau by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the presidentail press service has reported.

The official pointed out the major achievements of Moldovan diplomacy at the foreign level, including the significant leap in relations with the EU, the organization of the European Political Community Summit, the deepening of relations with the G7 states, the international sanctioning of fugitive oligarchs by important partners such as the USA, Great Britain, EU, Switzerland, and maintaining peace in Moldova in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the consequences of this war for our country. The achievements were possible thanks to a proactive, balanced and consistent foreign policy.

In discussions with Moldovan diplomats, the head of state outlined four key directions of action in the coming months and years:

Joining the EU and starting accession negotiations as soon as possible.
Boosting economic diplomacy to promote trade and attract investment to the country, thereby reviving the economy.
Promoting the interests of the diaspora, including by ensuring fast, accessible and quality consular services.
Strengthening Moldova's position as a security provider in the region and a strong supporter of Ukraine, which defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and thus the territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.


The head of state urged the ambassadors to represent Moldova with passion, integrity and vision.
