Officials in territory presented results of wheat, barley and rape harvest campaign

Chisinau, Aug. 17 /MOLDPRES/- Preliminary results of the wheat, barley and rape harvest campaign were presented today by heads of the district agricultural departments at an online meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.

According to the heads of departments, the harvesting campaign of category I crops has been completed, and currently works are being carried out to process the lands and prepare them for the sowing of autumn crops.

According to preliminary data from the territory, the average productivity per hectare of group I crops, including wheat, barley and rapeseed, was different in the regions of the country, varying depending on the weather conditions, the technologies applied by the agricultural producers, the seed material used.

Regarding Group II crops such as maize and sunflowers, they reported that in some regions, where weather conditions have been favorable, crops are in good to very good condition. At the same time, in certain localities, corn and sunflowers were affected by the drought.

Bolea thanked the agricultural producers for the work done. At the same time, he urged the farmers in the regions where there are irrigation systems, to use them as efficiently as possible, in order to increase productivity. 

According to statistics, this year in Moldova, the area sown with wheat was 372.2 thousand ha, autumn and spring barley - 59.6 thousand ha, and rape - 81.6 thousand ha.
