Moldovan National Army turns 32 years; head of state says Moldova relies on country's servicemen with confidence before danger, calamities, emergencies

Chisinau, 3 September /MOLDPRES/ - The National Army today marks the 32nd anniversary of its creation. On this occasion, actions are organized in more settlements of Moldova, through which citizens can learn more information about the work of sappers, military physicians, students, peacekeepers and servicemen from the special forces.     

Thus, the actions dedicated to the Day of the National Army in Your City will be organized in Chisinau, Balti and Cahul. Exhibitions of photos, equipment and technology, demonstrative exercises, contests for children, musical recital and military ceremonials of withdrawal with torch, were presented, etc.    

At the anniversary, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President Maia Sandu has conveyed a message for all Moldova’s defenders. „We are grateful to the heroes who died in the battle for country’s independence. We thank the veterans, officers and strength of the army, professionals who are always on duty. We thank also the families of the servicemen for the fact that the support them and are with them. We rely on our military with confidence, before the danger, calamities and emergencies,’’ Maia Sandu said.      

According to the head of state, the crises of the last years and the merciless war at the border reminded us that the safety of the Moldovan citizens depends on the good preparation and endowment of the National Army. „We work now to compensate the period of neglect of the defence sector. This year, through the mobilization of the domestic sources and with the assistance of the strategic partners, we have managed a significant increase of the budgetary allocations for the defence field’s modernization. The military and the civilian employees of the National Army must have good conditions for living and work, modern equipment and quality training,’’ Maia Sandu noted.  

The official also said that the Moldovan servicemen contributed also the keeping of peace and stability outside the country’s borders; thus, Moldova asserts itself as responsible member of the international community and state provider of security. 

Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii also conveyed a message to the servicemen, civilian employees, veterans and reserve military. „I thank you for the good performance you proved while fulfilling the job duties, working in the interest of the country and its citizens. Due to your professionalism, the National Army is a guarantor of peace and stability of Moldova and our state – a firm contributor to the international security, through participation in peacekeeping missions,’’ Anatolie Nosatii said.   

The National Army was created under a presidential decree on 3 September 1991.
