Chisinau, 13 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Farmers who grew sunflowers during the past year and were affected by drought will be eligible to receive external aid in the form of diesel. The Cabinet expanded the list of beneficiaries by amending the Regulation on amount of diesel from external humanitarian aid, meant to support farmers affected by the drought in 2022.
"In order to ensure the insolvency protection of farmers and the food supply of the consumers of the Republic of Moldova, it becomes necessary that the sunflower producers can access this aid", said Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea.
According to the data collected by the subdivisions responsible for the agricultural field of the local public authorities, about 165 thousand ha were sown with sunflowers.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry launched in late August the call for applications to determine the amount of diesel from external humanitarian aid, intended to support farmers affected by the drought of 2022. The institution responsible for receiving aid applications is the Intervention and Payments in Agriculture Agency. The application deadline is September 29, 2023.
