Doctors' salaries to increase by 15%, teachers to get one-off aid of five thousand lei

Chisinau, 25 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Doctors' salaries will increase by 15 percent, and teachers will benefit from a one-off aid of five thousand lei. The initiatives are part of Growth for Moldova Program, presented today by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

“We will allocate a health support consisting of a 15 percent increase in the salaries of all doctors and nurses. This refers to 48 thousand people from institutions financed from the mandatory medical assistance insurance fund, but it also refers to hospitals that are not financed by the National Medical Insurance Company, such as the MAI hospital, the Ministry of Defense, the Center for rehabilitation and placement, prison doctors and forensic doctors, which will have a 26 percent increase. Thus, the salary of a doctor will increase from 17,344 lei to 19,945 lei," said Dorin Recean.

The government will also grant an increase in education. Over 100 thousand people will get it. It assumes that all teachers will receive a one-off aid of five thousand lei, and 35 thousand people, non-teaching staff, will get three thousand lei.

The program amounts to 1.3 billion lei (65 million euros) and will have a direct impact on 170 thousand people. The Prime Minister will go to Parliament next week to present it for approval.
