Consolidation of social cohesion of citizens on both banks of Dniester river discussed at Moldova's parliament

Chisinau, 25 September /MOLDPRES/ - The current situation in the Transnistrian region and especially the problems concerning the ensuring of the human rights and security in the region on the left bank of Dniester today were discussed by the members of the special parliamentary commission for parliamentary monitoring and control over the carrying out of the policy of Moldova’s reintegration.   

Attending the discussions were the head of the United Nations Human Rights Office in Moldova, Bea Ferenci, Representative of UN Women Dominika Stojanoska and the adviser for peace and development of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Moldova, Kristin Jenssen.      

The head of the UN Human Rights Office in Moldova, Bea Ferenci, informed the officials about the implementation of the project, Edification of sustainable and inclusive peace, consolidation of the social confidence and cohesion on both banks of Dniester. The project’s goal is to facilitate a friendly environment for improving the relations between the communities on both banks of Dniester, reduce the social tensions, as well as improve the integration of human rights and the gender equality in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.      

Deputy Parliament Speaker, the head of the special commission Mihail Popsoi said that the United Nations Organization, through its agencies, had had and continued to have a solid contribution to the process of settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, through the multitude of projects which we implement in Moldova. ‘’We assure you of our every support and openness in the joint efforts to facilitate the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, in a peaceful way,’’ Mihail Popsoi said.   

The parliament’s special commission for parliamentary monitoring and control on the carrying out of the policy of Moldova’s reintegration was set up in November 2021 and has the goal to monitor and assess the situation as to the reintegration policies, as well as to work out proposals and recommendations which would allow the regaining of the confidence and getting closer of the citizens and on both banks of Dniester.
