Cultural Forum on national architectural heritage organized in Chisinau

Chisinau, 26 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- In the context of the European Heritage Days, the Ministry of Culture organized today for the first time a cultural forum - Architectural cultural heritage: challenges, achievements and prospects, due for two days in Chisinau.
Attending the event were Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan, head of the Parliamentary Commission for Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sport and Mass Media Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei, representatives of the diplomatic staff accredited in Chisinau and the institutions subordinate to the relevant ministry.
In his speech, Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan said that the safeguarding of the architectural heritage is a national priority. "European integration forces us to put our clothes in order. Today's forum is focused on built heritage. We need to take care of the building culture, what we build today and what we leave to future generations. The forum must be a communication platform, where anyone can express their opinion and be heard. This platform gives us the opportunity to communicate with the whole society", he said.
Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei said that it is very important to take care of the restoration of the architectural heritage, and in this field we must have a legal framework. Laury Hruby, deputy head of the Diplomatic Mission of the United States of America in Chisinau, emphasized that since 2001, the USA has invested 1.5 million dollars in the Republic of Moldova for 12 unique cultural projects.
The event highlighted the most significant projects at architectural monuments, highlighted the normative framework of the Republic of Moldova in the cultural heritage protection, discussed current issues. Among the participants of the event are representatives of the academic environment, experts in cultural heritage issues, architects, urban planners, representatives of civil society.
