Chisinau, 29 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- The National Plan for EU Accession was submitted to public consultation. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu made the statement today.

The official said the document is an important stage for our country's European path, replacing all previous steps and clearly reflecting our national goal: to prepare the Republic of Moldova for EU accession by 2030.

"I am happy to announce that we have reached the moment when we are presenting the National Plan for EU Accession for public consultation. This is a crucial step towards strengthening our ties with the European family and will become the basis of the accession process, through which we will adapt and integrate the community acquis into national legislation. We are currently assessing the correspondence of the national legislation to the European legislation and assigning the necessary documents to the institutions responsible for their implementation. The plan will be significantly developed following the evaluation process, made together with the European Commission", Popescu said.

The official invited all those interested to attend public consultations and share views and suggestions. "Joining the EU is a major goal for our country, and citizens' involvement is crucial to build a more prosperous future within the European community," said Popescu.

Last June, Moldova received the status of a candidate country for joining the EU. Chisinau authorities were provided with nine conditions to move to the next stage of accession - negotiations. The level of implementation of the European Commission's recommendations will be assessed this autumn.
