North Carolina Secretary of State visits USMF „Nicolae Testemițanu”

Chisinau, Oct. 13 /MOLDPRES/- North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall visited Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy on October 11. She had a meeting with members of the university community, especially those who are being trained in the bilateral partnership. The North Carolina delegation was accompanied by Kent D. Logsdon, Ambassador of the United States of America to Chisinau.

Institution's rector Emil Ceban expressed gratitude to the official for the constant support offered to the institution during the 24 years of bilateral cooperation. "Our university focuses on quality and this fact stimulates us to develop constantly, to be visible, and to integrate into the European and world space. We are grateful to our North Carolina partners for their support in equipping libraries, developing new study programs, such as Nursing and Human Nutrition, and we further rely on your support and experience," the rector said.

For her part, Elaine Marshall expressed joy for seeing again most of the beneficiaries of academic mobility and the Open World program, those who visited the American state during the 24 years of cooperation. "I am honored to be the president of this partnership on behalf of the state of North Carolina, but I have an even greater responsibility that I have been awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu". My first visit took place in 1999 and I can tell you, with all certainty, that a lot of changes have really taken place since then, given that I have many friends here and I am confident for a better future for the Republic of Moldova", the American official said.

Ambassador Kent D. Logsdon said that the country he represents "is extremely proud of the partnership with USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" - an extraordinary institution and above all, for the cooperation relations with the state of North Carolina". The American diplomat expressed the USA's openness to further supporting bilateral cooperation in the social, cultural, economic, education, research, medical and humanitarian assistance sectors etc.

During the 24 years of bilateral cooperation, USMF "Nicolae Testemițanu" has developed cooperation relations with medical education, research and health institutions in the state of North Carolina, especially with Chapel Hill University and East Carolina University. Over the years, many cooperation projects have been carried out in the dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, activity of medical libraries.
