GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS 2023: Summary of October 13

Chisinau, Oct. 13 /MOLDPRES/- Today's electoral agenda included a briefing held by candidate of the Renaissance Party for Chisinau mayor Vasile Bolea on problems faced by the construction industry and solutions. The candidate emphasized the need for a clear urban development plan for Chisinau. 

National Alternative Movement Party leader Ion Ceban held a press conference today.

He presented the measures related to the Green-Blue Infrastructure, a project, component of the Green City Action Plan aimed at rehabilitating the Bâc river; Sustainable public transport; Waste management; Rehabilitation of roads; Water and sewage; Energy efficiency and rehabilitation of public buildings. "These projects have significantly contributed to improving the quality of life in Chisinau and promoting a more sustainable city and more resistant to climate change", Ion Ceban said.

ALDE head Arina Spătaru warned about the "disastrous effects for the economy of the Republic of Moldova, which could be caused by a draft law proposed by the Ministry of Justice, which provides for the elimination of the regulatory impact analysis in the drafting process of the legislative framework".

During today's meeting, the Central Electoral Commission accredited five people as national observers from the Association for Urban Safety and Mediation of Moldova and five people as international observers from the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Moldova. Five journalists from the Piligrim Demo Public Association were confirmed. To date, the CEC has accredited a total of 844 observers, including 106 international and 738 national, and confirmed 27 journalists.

Another CEC decision sees that informational posters will be printed in Romanian and Russian, explain the voting procedure and contain information about possible violations of the electoral process on election day. The materials will be displayed in the polling stations.

The Central Electoral Commission also approved at today's meeting the Code of Conduct for electoral officials. The document establishes the principles and norms of professional conduct of electoral officials, defines and guides their actions during the electoral period.
