Infrastructure minister says Moldova needs immediate investments

Chisinau, 17 October /MOLDPRES/ - Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu unveiled the vision of development and the goals for the modernization of the infrastructure at the meeting of the Moldova Support Platform today. The official said that Moldova needed immediate investments.   

Thus, the minister referred to those five priorities from the Plan on Reconstruction of Moldova’s Infrastructure 5+ and the projects of national importance, such as the development of the airport, Giurgiulesti port, bridges across the Prut and Dniester rivers, the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau-Odessa highway, high-speed train due to connect the cities of Chisinau, Iasi and Bucharest.    

„Time is ripe to strategically think of Moldova’s future, more exactly the future of Moldova’s connection with Europe. Our country needs immediate investments in roads, aqueducts, sewerage, railway, ports, airports, cities and villages. The good side is that there are 50 delegations from all over the world in Chisinau, which are with Moldova. Together with them, we will manage to finish these ambitious projects for Moldova,’’ the minister stressed.    

A string of memorandums were signed for Moldova, on the sidelines of the event. Also, the Moldovan government will ask for assistance on three main directions, which shows the priorities of development; the first direction is the budgetary support; the second one regards the creation of a Fund for Infrastructure and the third direction is the creation of a Fund for Green Energy.   

The event will end with a speech given by President Maia Sandu, followed by a news conference held by the foreign affairs ministers from four countries – France, Germany, Romania and Moldova.
