DOC Amendments to procedure of return of taxes of enterprises from Gagauz Autonomy published in Official Journal

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - The return of taxes of the economic agents from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (UTAG) will be carried out from the budget of the autonomous unit, within the limit of the revenues available. The amendments to the Fiscal Code were published in the Official Journal (Monitorul Oficial) today and will enter into force on 1 November 2023.

According to the mechanism proposed, the sums non-covered for return will be compensated through transfers with special purpose from the state budget in the next budgetary year.

An analysis of the situation carried out by authorities showed that the sums of the value added tax (VAT) returned from the state budget had been continuously increasing and in the last five years alone; the state budget reimbursed more than 640 million lei (32 million euros) as VAT sum to UTAG.
