Police seized marijuana of about 3 million lei near Mileștii Mici

Chisinau, Oct. 24 /MOLDPRES/ - The law enforcement officers seized marijuana worth about 3 million lei (about 150 thousand euros) near the village of Milestii Mici, Ialoveni district. The police detained a man.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, part of the drugs was identified in an improvised artisanal greenhouse, in a forest strip, where over a hundred hemp plants were taken. In the greenhouse, the plants were dried and prepared for later sale.

In this case, a person was detained following the searches carried out at his home and his car, and later he was placed under pretrial detention for 30 days. The man is 45 years old and previously served a seven-year prison sentence and recently served another two years in prison for drug trafficking.

Now Hâncești Court is examining another case against him, sent to court in February 2021, after another seizure of drugs, which he had stored in barrels buried in the ground for later sale.

Two other people in the case have pleaded guilty and are already serving prison sentence.
