Audiovisual Council of Moldova sanctions two TV distributors from Gagauz Autonomy

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Audiovisual Council (CA) members today unanimously voted for the sanctioning with 200,000 lei of the distributors Oguzsatlink Ltd and ILK HALK TELEVIZIONU Ltd from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia for the non-protection of the national audiovisual space.    

According to CA, they rebroadcast programmes with military, analytical and informative content from the TV channels from Russia and Belarus, such as Первый канал, НТВ, Россия 1, Россия 24, МИР 24, РБК, Беларусь 24. Thus, they infringed the provisions of the audiovisual media services code and the fine for both TV stations was 100,000 lei each.    

Oguzsatlink Ltd and ILK HALK TELEVIZIONU Ltd work without authorization on behalf of the Audiovisual Council and the fines in this respect were by 30,000 lei. At the same time, ILK HALK TELEVIZIONU Ltd holds and broadcasts the TV channel Первый народный without broadcasting licence and a fine worth 30,000 was imposed against it.   

In last July, the distributors were also sanctioned for the same type of infringements, with fines worth about 150,000 lei in all imposed against them.

Also at the today’s meeting, the Audiovisual Council sanctioned the distributor TV BOX Ltd with 15,000 lei for the broadcasting of the European Moldova media service without broadcasting licence.

On 18 October 2023, the broadcasting of a television services titled, European Moldova, was recorded on the grid of programmes of the distributor, through the StarNet networks.     

According to the provisions of the audiovisual media services code, the supply of the audiovisual media service is made based on the broadcasting licence, issued by the Audiovisual Council and no broadcasting licence was given for the European Moldova TV channel.
