More than 1,500 observers to monitor general local elections in Moldova

Chisinau, 31 October /MOLDPRES/ - More than 1,500 national and international observers will monitor the general local elections due on 5 November 2023. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today accredited the last observers for the monitoring of the ballot due on next Sunday.   

As many as 1,092 national observers out of all observers represent eight associations from Moldova. Most observers were accredited at a request by the Promo-LEX Association.

At the same time, CEC accredited 401 international observers. They represent 17 diplomatic missions accredited in Moldova (93 people), 13 foreign electoral authorities (30 people), one international association (two persons); the election observation mission on behalf of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will be represented by 235 people, on behalf of ENEMO (European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations) -11 people, of the Council of Europe’s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities – 20 people and the European Parliament – 12 people.     

Also, more national observers were accredited by the national electoral councils of constituency.
