Another two persons delivers to police money received to vote for representatives of political at local polls in Moldova

Chisinau, 2 November /MOLDPRES/ - Another two people from north Moldova have delivered to police the money received to vote for representatives of a political party at the general local elections.   

According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), two women aged 37 and 47 years came to the inspectorate’s headquarters, noting that they had received 1,000 lei (about 50 euros) each from representatives of a political party, in order to vote for them at the general local polls due on 5 November. With this sum, they were also to persuade also other people from the settlement to vote for the representative of this party for the office of mayor.    

„The women said they had ruled to deliver the financial means, in order not to be prosecuted under the Criminal Law. In the context, IGP urges the citizens to express their own will by free vote and observe the law,’’ the institution noted.  

According to the Criminal Code, the corrupting of voters is punished with fine worth from 37,500 lei to 57,500 lei or with imprisonment from 1 to 5 years, enforced against a private person.

On 1 November, two persons from a settlement from north Moldova voluntarily delivered to police the financial means received in exchange for the votes which were to be given in favour of a political party at the general local elections. The man and the woman said they had received 1,000 lei each from representatives of a political party, in order to vote for the latter at the polls.
