Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - Passengers will benefit from modern and more qualitative transport services and the conditions of carrying out of road transport activities will be simplified. The cabinet approved a decision to this effect today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Under the document, the local public authorities will be able to intervene at the stage of planning the launch and change of new regular routes and will have an active role in the decision-making process. Presently, there are non-functional criteria of formation of the network of routes in national traffic, in which the transport operators have the main role. The modification comes in the context that the local public authorities better know the needs of the citizens from settlements and have information on the flow of passengers. Another amendment deals with the removal of the limits of hour and the shortening of the interval up to 15 minutes for the nation-wide routes.

At the same time, under the draft, the road transport field is to be digitalized and the bureaucracy will be reduced for the citizens’ benefit. The vehicle’s logbook, as well as the acts which already exist in the information systems of the National Agency of Motor Transport – information on technical inspection and the certificates of professional skills – will be removed from the list of documents of strict record.

Also, the travel tickets will be issued in form of fiscal bonds or in electronic format and the district councils will have right to approve tariffs for travels at the district level.
