Fourteenth Meeting of Moldova-EU Parliamentary Association Committee held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today hosted the 14th Meeting of the Moldova-EU Parliamentary Association Committee (CPA Moldova-EU). The event brought together MPs, European lawmakers and government’s representatives, who discussed the progress made by Moldova in the context of the implementation of those nine recommendations contained in the notification of the European Commission.  

The discussions were focused also on the implementation of the justice reform, security and the economic situation in Moldova.   

„Despite all difficulties, we are confident that, due to the European Parliament’s support, and directly, of the members of the delegation of the Moldova-EU Parliamentary Association Committee, Moldova will manage to achieve the ambitious goals set, to start the negotiations on accession to EU, as the parliament of Moldova, the government and the society have mobilized to fulfill all recommendations set,’’ the co-president of CPA Moldova-EU, Deputy Parliament Speaker Mihail Popsoi said.    

„The strengthening of the justice, combating of corruption and money laundering, the good work of the rule of law state, the reform of the judicial system’s institutions – all are processes where the speed of implementation on behalf of Moldova’s authorities is a very good one. Therefore, the European Parliament supports the starting of the negotiations on accession. This is the official position of the European Parliament, expressed in the last October Resolution and this is also what we, the MPs of Moldova and of the European Parliament, will jointly reiterate at this meeting,’’ the co-president of CPA Moldova-EU, European MP Siegfried Muresan said.    

At the Meeting, the participants referred to the economic and security challenges of Moldova, in the context of the Russian aggression against Ukraine. They also discussed the justice reform, as this is a key element of the European Union’s recommendations.   

In the end of the Meeting, the participants adopted a declaration on the European integration way of Moldova.
