Moldovan Foreign Affairs Ministry makes specifications on statements by Russian foreign affairs minister

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) has come up with specifications on statements made by Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov at the OSCE ministerial meeting in Skopje.    

„Ever since the beginning of Russia’s brutal invasion against Ukraine, in Moldova, we have felt the entire arsenal of attempts of destabilization which Russia started against us. The statements of Russia, either the today’s ones or from earlier occasions, fit the series of hostile actions which Russia has been trying to implement against our country in the last 30 years. Fortunately, on all this period, the partner states from the West have been with us, helping us overcome these threats successfully. Taking into account that Minister Lavrov, nevertheless, came to the OSCE ministerial meeting, we hope that our message – clear and trenchant – will be understood by him as well: the Republic of Moldova irreversibly goes the European way and today, more than ever, we insist on the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Russian troops from our territory,’’ said Igor Zaharov, the adviser on communication of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu.         

At the OSCE ministerial meeting in Skopje today, the Russian foreign affairs minister said that ‘’the NATO and EU undermined the document already initialed by Chisinau and Tiraspol and now they kill 5+2 format, the last thing left of the joint efforts for the Transnistrian settlement.’’
