Moldovan PM, U.S, under-secretary of state discuss projects implemented with USA's support

Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean and the members of an American delegation led by Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya today discussed aspects on the Moldova-USA cooperation in the field of the rule of law state, anticorruption reforms and security, the government’s communication department has reported.       

The officials made a short retrospective of the projects implemented in Moldova with the support of the United States. The sides emphasized the importance of the launch of the TETRA telecommunications system, which will consolidate the work of all order forces from Moldova and will strengthen the national security.   

„There is no sector in which there are no projects implemented with the support of the United States. We treat with great responsibility the investment projects in Moldova, especially the ones in the security and defence field, as we are part of the regional security infrastructure. The project launched with the U.S. support today is part of our efforts and will allow carrying out a quick exchange of data in the prevention and combating of the cross-border criminality,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.   

U.S. Under Secretary of State Uzra Zeya congratulated the Moldovan authorities and citizens on the progress made in the process of implementation of the European reforms. The official reiterated the constant support of the USA for the country’s European integration way and the openness for providing assistance for the carrying out of joint projects in the field of protection of human rights, fighting corruption, cyber security and defence.   

The TETRA special communications system was launched at a today’s news conference of Interior Minister Adrian Efros and Under Secretary of State of the USA Uzra Zeya. The United States had a contribution of 22.3 million dollars within this project.
