Term of work of IT Park to be extended in Moldova till 2035

Chisinau, 6 December /MOLDPRES/ - The term of work of the IT Park from Moldova will be extended till 2035, with the preservation of the single tax of 7 per cent. The cabinet today approved a decision to this end, in order to provide predictability and a clear perspective to the residents and potential investors in the information technologies sector, the government’s communication department has reported.     

Also, the list of eligible kinds of activity is to be extended. Thus, activities of the telephonic intermediation centres (call centers) and other services of labour force supply will be able to be carried out at the Park, with limiting at export. At the same time, a Council will be set up, which will coordinate the work of the IT Park. It will be made up of representatives of the government, associative sector, the park’s residents, as well as of development partners.    

The draft is to be considered and approved at the next parliament meeting. 

The IT Park started working on 1 January 2018 with a period of work of 10 years, till 31 December 2027. Today, the cabinet ruled to prolong this term till 2035. Presently, over 1,600 residents work at the Moldova Innovation Technology Park, at whom about 21,000 people are employed, with more than 230 being companies founded by foreign investors from 39 countries. The overall turnover for the 2023 year is estimated to increase by 33 per cent against 2022 and will amount to more than 13 billion lei. The IT Park’s residents produce 5 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product and 11 per cent of Moldova’s exports, with the IT exports standing at 9.2 billion lei.
