PHOTO Forensic and Judicial Expertise Center of IGP received equipment donation

Chisinau, Dec. 12 /MOLDPRES/- The Forensic and Judicial Expertise Center of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) received today an equipment donation for the technical-explosive unit.

The equipment will be used for the development of research skills, defusing and safe transportation of explosive substances and products for deactivation in safe places.

Attending the event were IGP head Viorel Cernăuțeanu, U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrei Cecoltan and the Center's employees.

Cernăuțeanu thanked the representatives of the US embassy for support saying that the recent challenges have shown that in addition to the safety we must offer to citizens, there is also a need to protect employees, the risk they are exposed to is enormous. "The constant support from the US Embassy for the National Police significantly contributes to the strengthening of professional capacities, and the variety of areas in which the embassy has expressed openness to support us in 2023 - 2024 in the CyberCrime, Cyber Security and community police confirms the role of a strategic partner in ensuring the safety climate in the community", said Cernăuțeanu.

The total amount of the equipment is 360 thousand dollars. The donation was made by the U.S. Department of State - Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
