Chisinau, 14 Dec. /MOLDPRES/- Ministry of Health reiterated today that in the context of efforts to optimize the health system, two public medical and sanitary institutions will be reorganized - the Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases "Toma Ciorbă" and the Hospital for Dermatology and Communicable Diseases, but the reorganization does not imply the closure of any hospital.

According to the ministry, the reorganization involves merging the two institutions under a common management, given their similar specifics - the treatment of contagious diseases.

Dermatology and Communicable Diseases hospital works with a capacity of only 40% of the active beds, and the "Toma Ciorbă" Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases does not have an intensive care unit, a pediatric unit, or high-performance laboratories.

The Ministry of Health notes that the joint management of these two medical and sanitary institutions will contribute to the optimization of administrative processes and the efficiency of financial resources.

"The reorganization does not involve the closing of medical institutions, as is circulated in the public space, but the optimization of expenses, the restructuring and the investments that will be made in infrastructure, capacities and skills, in a common management of the institutions".

Recently, the medical staff of the Clinical Hospital for Infectious Diseases "Toma Ciorbă" protested against the merger of the two institutions.
