Moldovan diplomacy head says activities activities concerning process of negotiations to start next week

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - „Yesterday evening, on the eve of the Winter Holidays, we received with happiness the much expected decision: the starting of the negotiations on accession to the European Union,’’ said the Moldovan diplomacy head, Nicu Popescu, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.      

”Today, I had a meeting with director general of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert-Jan Koopman, along with his team. At this meeting, we discussed the next steps which we are to undertake in the process of starting the negotiations. The activities will begin as early as next week, focusing on the assessment of the chapter 23 – Justice and fundamental rights.   

Immediately after the meeting, I was pleased to meet again our journalists present in Brussels. I answered all questions and had a constructive discussion on the importance of this decision for our European future,’’ Nicu Popescu said.
