Independence Day of Kazakhstan marked at Moldova's National Library

Chisinau, 15 December /MOLDPRES/ - A cultural event dedicated to the Independence Day of Kazakhstan, annually marked on 16 December, took place at the headquarters of Moldova’s National Library (BNRM) today.   

The event was organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Moldova, in cooperation with the National Library of Moldova and the National Agency of Archives.  

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Moldova Almat Aidarbekov said that 16 December was the National Day of Kazakhstan, which in 1991 gave up the status of member country of the Soviet Union and proclaimed its independence. ‘’The declaring of the Independence was an extremely important historical event for Kazakhstan. Since the declaring of the Independence till present, our country has covered a long way. Thus, in 1991, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Gross Domestic Product was of 200 dollars per head, while at present, it is 11,000 dollars.  During 30 years, Kazakhstan has covered a long distance and presently it is one of the important members of the world community and has a strong economy. This holiday is very important and we want to tell about it to our friends. Moldova is an important partner for us,’’ the Kazakh diplomat stressed.    

For her part, BNRM director Elena Pintilei said that the event turned to good account the cultural and economic achievements of Kazakhstan.  

Documents and files of the National Agency of Archives, documents from BNRM’s collections, some of them donated by the Embassy, were displayed at the event. They represent art albums, encyclopedias, as well as classical and contemporary literature in the field of history, civilization, people’s traditions, architecture and culture of Kazakhstan.
