Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved, at an initiative by the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry, the establishment of the information system on the scheduling of electronic queues at the border. At the same time, the cabinet approved the Regulation on the work of the System and the Rules of scheduling at the state border crossing points (PTF), the government’s communication department has reported.

Thus, the carriers will be able to schedule their exact hour of crossing the border, through their registration in a virtual waiting queue, before setting out to the border crossing point. They will also be able to efficiently plan their financial and human resources, the travels and the time of crossing the border.

The new system will contribute to the solving of the problems of the delays and the standings of trucks at the border checkpoints for more than seven days, as well as of the disturbances in the supply chains. At the same time, this will help reorient the exports and transport means to PTF with Romania and use the territory of Moldova for the transit of goods from/to Ukraine, especially for cereals, etc.

The project will be implemented in more stages, with the technical and financial support of the Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA) Programme of the United States Agency for International Development and the preliminary scheduling at the state border crossing points will be available as early as in the beginning of the 2024 year.
