Farmers from Moldova orient themselves to innovation, sustainability

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The units of implementation of projects in the agriculture sector today brought together at the headquarters of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA), in order to discuss the progress made and the impact on the agricultural community in 2023, as well as to set new goals.   

According to the reports, the Moldovan farmers orient themselves to innovation and sustainability. ‘’This year, they have made significant investments in agricultural technology and equipment. Also, an essential increase in the demands for financing for the post-harvesting infrastructure, digitalization solutions, energy efficiency and irrigation systems was recorded,’’ MAIA said.  

The financings will continue also in the 2024 year, in order to support the farmers, with emphasis put on the key sectors, in order to consolidate the resilience of the agricultural sector. Increased attention will be paid to the development of the sector of irrigation and use of technologies adapted to the climate changes, so that the farmers can overcome the weather conditions which hit the agricultural activity, according to the quoted source.   

Also, investments will be made in the construction and endowment of the laboratories from the education institutions specialized in agriculture, so that the pupils and students benefit from improved practical experiences and have a better education, in accordance with the market’s tendencies and requirements, the Agriculture Ministry added.
