Republican referendum can be organized on parliamentary and presidential election day

Chisinau, Dec. 28 /MOLDPRES/- Republican referendum can be organized on the day of the parliamentary and presidential elections. An amendment stipulating this was proposed by PAS deputy Veronica Roșca and adopted by parliament.

This draft law seeks to remove some legislative deficiencies, including technical ones, noticed after the local elections this autumn. Thus, the proposed changes will contribute to the improvement of the electoral procedures and the avoidance of normative interpretations by the subjects involved in the electoral process.

The authors propose adjusting the notions of the Electoral Code that refer to electoral agitation and of the Register of electoral officials. Measures are also proposed for the transparency of information regarding the financing of the electoral campaign and the activity of political parties. At the same time, regarding the applicability of the provisions of the Electoral Code regarding the period of the presidential elections, the authors mention that it is necessary to make a distinction in terms of the criteria that determine their organization.
