Ministry of Education and Research earmarked about 27 million lei for awarding athletes and coaches in 2023

Chisinau, 2 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) has allocated about 27 million lei (1.35 million euros) for awarding athletes and coaches who have achieved outstanding results at international competitions in 2023.

It is about Maria Olărașu and Daniela Cociu, kayak-canoe; Daniel Procopciuc, armwrestling; Serghei Tarnovschi, kayak-canoe; Irina Rîngaci, women's wrestling; Marin Robu, weightlifting; Artiom Livadari, muay thai; Cristi Constantinov, hand-to-hand combat; Anastasia Nichita and Mariana Draguțan, women's wrestling.

The MEC said that in 2023, Moldovan athletes won a record number of medals - 535 in many competitions, including Olympic and Paralympic ones, in various age categories.
