ADR Centru: Over 200 million lei in investments in living standards of residents from central Moldova region

Chisinau, 10 January /MOLDPRES/ - The 2023 year brought significant improvements to the living of the residents from central Moldova, through the carrying out of a string of regional development projects implemented by the Centru Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru). Thus, in the last year, the Agency implemented 16 regional infrastructure and assistance projects worth about 200 million lei in all (10 million euros) from sources of the National Fund of Regional and Local Development (FNDRL), Road Fund and the assistance provided by development partners.   

„We worked, in order to provide the residents with source of drinking water, through the carrying out of the works of construction of water mains of interconnection of a string of settlements from the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni, Hancesti and Ialoveni. At the same time, works were carried out in 2023 for constructing a National Hub of Sports Tourism in Anenii Noi, the tourist infrastructure was consolidated, conserved and developed at the old Orhei Culture and Nature Reserve, as well as the tourist potential was turned to good account in the area of the districts of Straseni, Calarasi, Nisporeni and Ungheni, within the projects on the development of the tourist attractiveness of the Centru Region. We also invested in the urban revival of the Ialoveni city through the construction of an Open-Air Theatre, which will become a centre for cultural and entertainment events in the open air,’’ ADR Centru said.            

These, as well as other activities were carried out within 13 regional  projects included in the Single Programme Document for the 2022-2024 years. A sum of 110.60 million lei from FNDRL means and 17.71 million as beneficiaries’ contribution was turned to account for these   works. At the same time, the team of the Agency continued the   implementation of a project on the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of roads from Centru Development Region (RDC), with the financing from the Road Fund, turning to account a sum of 25 million lei.   

The works of energy optimization of the Alexei Mateevici Theoretical Lyceum from Soldanesti continued with the support of the German Agency for International Development (GIZ), within the project, Modernization of Local Public Services. Financial means worth 32.7 million lei were turned to account for this project from EU’s sources in 2023. At the same time, 11.4 million lei was invested for the project, Improvement of the water infrastructure in Central Moldova, within which decision-makers plan to construct the water main Chisinau-Straseni-Calarasi, financed by the German Federal Government, through the KfW bank.    

„In the 2024 year, we are set to continue these initiatives and maintain the pace of development, so that ADR Centru remains an important actor in the promotion of an equitable and sustainable economic growth in the region. The progress made in 2023 provides a solid foundation for continuing the efforts also for the edification of a more prosperous and more united community in the long run,’’ the Centru Regional Development Agency added.
