Moldovan National Health Insurances Company concludes contracts worth almost 14 billion lei with providers of medical services

Chisinau, 11 January /MOLDPRES/ - The National Health Insurances Company (CNAM) has concluded 430 contracts worth about 14 billion lei with public and private providers which in 2024 will provide medical services to the residents within the mandatory health insurance system.    

According to CNAM, the money will be transferred in installments by CNAM, depending on the services monthly provided by providers and represents about 92 per cent of the overall value of the mandatory health insurances accounts for this year.   

More than a half of the money will be directed for the providing of the hospital medical assistance. This allowed the contracting of 77 public and private hospitals, which will ensure the treatment of about half a million of cases in diverse specializations – day surgery, acute and chronic cases, interventions within special programmes, dialysis services, radiotherapy services for cancer patients, etc.     

This year, the number of cases due to be carried out within special cases has increased, and namely: interventions on heart, prosthesis of the locomotor apparatus, cataract operations. For instance, over 141 million lei was planned for the carrying out of 10,500 cataract operations, up by 1,600 interventions against the last year. More than 400 million lei was directed for almost 6,000 operations of prosthesis of the locomotor apparatus, which is by over 700 cases more against the 2023 year.   

The number of cases of the in vitro fertilization will be tripled, from 60 services purchased in 2023 to 170 worth over five million lei, scheduled for this year.  

To ensure the residents’ access to the family physician and his/her team, over 280 providers of first medical aid were contracted. The financial means provided for under the Law on the mandatory health insurances accounts for 2024 for this type of assistance exceed three billion lei and represents almost one quarter of the basic fund, meant for the payment of the medical and pharmaceutical services.     

Almost 1.4 billion lei was envisaged for the medical assistance due to be provided by the outpatient’s physicians specialists. The sum seen for the providing of emergency medical assistance services this year is of more than 1 billion 312 million lei or 8.6 per cent of the basic fund. This money will be turned to account by two authorized providers, which will take over the applications all over Moldova – the National Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Centre and the State Polyclinic.   

At the same time, the insured people in 2024 will benefit from a volume of over 300,000 highly advanced medical services worth almost 366 million lei. These investigations will be provided by 67 public and private providers. A substantial increase in the number of highly advanced services for this year is recorded in the case of the ones of colonoscopy, eco-cardiograph, computerized tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, as well as of the services meant for the cancer patients. The means allocated for the community medical cares and at home exceed 130 million lei in 2024.         

The money meant for the palliative care reach 95 million lei, provided for about 84,000 days/bed at in-patient units and about 13,000 visits at home made by mobile teams. At the same time, over 1 billion 80 million lei was planned for the compensation of medicines and medical devices, which is by 48 million lei more against 2023.
