Moldovan president has phone conversation with European Commissioner for Budget and Administration

Chisinau, 22 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has had a phone conversation with European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn. The officials tackled the priorities and the future of the European assistance for Moldova, the presidential press service has reported. 

During the discussion, the Moldovan president highlighted the importance of the European Union’s continuous support for the consolidation of the country’s resilience, modernization of the infrastructure and institutions, as well as for the advancement on the way of accession to EU.  

The head of state expressed gratitude for the constant support provided by the European partners for the overcoming of the difficulties faced by the country in the last years and for the projects financed, which change the things for the better in Moldova.   

Also, President Maia Sandu emphasized the historical decision on the starting of the negotiations on accession to EU, taken in December 2023, as a turning point for Moldova. She reiterated the firm commitment of the Moldovan governance to press ahead with the reforms needed for the fulfillment of the accession criteria, so that Moldova becomes an EU member state as soon as possible.
