Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - Romania is and will remain the most active and the closest partner of Moldova and its citizens, both at the bilateral level and at the European and international levels. The Romanian diplomacy head, Luminita Odobescu, has made statements to this effect at a conference held jointly with Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu.

According to Romania’s foreign affairs minister, the political and diplomatic dialogue between Romania and Moldova is presently at an unprecedented level.

„We have dynamic bilateral projects at the sectoral level in many fields. I am happy very much that we had opportunity to discuss these joint projects, especially the ones dealing with the process of Moldova’s European integration. Just as I have said innumerable times, Moldova’s place is in the European family. I assured my counterpart of Romania’s every support for Moldova. We are and we will remain the most active and the closest partner of Moldova and of its citizens, both at the bilateral level and at the European and international levels. We can provide applied technical expertise, based on our own experience in the process of accession and we will provide the support which Moldova needs. In the last years, the Moldovan authorities have had to cope with an impressive number of destabilizing actions. We saw attempts of overthrowing the constitutional order and of deviation from the European integration way and I am happy to see that Moldova stayed firm; moreover, it consolidated its institutions and remained unflinching on its road to the European Union,’’ the Romanian diplomat said.

Deputy PM Nicu Popescu, on a visit to Bucharest, thanked Romania for support and reviewed the projects implemented with the support of the Romanian authorities in the last years.

“My visit takes place on the eve of an emblematic date: the 165th anniversary of the Small Union of Romania will be marked on 24 January. We are and we will be united in the fulfillment of our common goals. We reviewed the Moldovan-Romanian relations during the discussions today. More than ever in the last 30 years, we really have a strong, symbolical relation, which is full of joint projects, which will connect, in continuation, Moldova to Romania and will anchor Moldova to the family of European states. I want to mention also the fact that we have a quite close cooperation in the international forums; we act with solidarity,’’ the Moldovan minister added.
