Top European bank to provide 600,000 euros for implementation of Solid Waste in Moldova project

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved the Agreement on Grant between the Environment Ministry and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on financing of technical assistance worth 600,000 euros, for the carrying out of the Solid Waste in Moldova Project. 

„The Agreement on Grant has the goal to carry out the national programme on the development of the infrastructure related to the process of management of the solid waste, which is to be implemented in accordance with the provisions of the waste management Strategy in Moldova, approved in 2013. Therefore, the resources allocated are to be used for the implementation of the project in three waste management regions and partial financing of consultancy services,’’ Environment Minister Iordanca-Rodica Iordanov.  

The draft is to be implemented in stages, as the process of preparation of sub-projects advances. Presently, based on the documents worked out, the procedures of elaboration of the System of difference for the waste management region (RMD) 5 were finished, which comprises the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni and Calarasi.     

The agreement on grant on the financing of technical assistance for the carrying out of the Solid Waste in Moldova Project is an inter-institutional treaty between EBRD and the Environment Ministry.
