New embassy to be inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Embassy of the Kingdom of  Denmark will be inaugurated in Chisinau today. Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu and Foreign Affairs Minister of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen have made statements to this effect at a joint news conference.  

The Moldovan diplomacy head thanked the partners from Denmark for the support provided to Moldova and reviewed the projects carried out with Danish support. Popescu specified that that inauguration of a new embassy in Chisinau showed the excellent level of cooperation with Denmark.    

„I am happy to see again Lars Løkke Rasmussen at the Foreign Affairs Ministry for the third time in less than one year. The opening of the Embassy of Denmark in Chisinau will allow Moldova’s anchoring in the European family. I also thank for the fact that you have made this administrative and budgetary effort to prioritize namely Moldova in the moment when the decisions on extending the Danish diplomatic networks abroad were taken. Obviously, we have an excellent bilateral relation, but we also have common positions on a multitude of subjects of major importance,’’ the Moldovan minister noted.    

The Danish official congratulated the Moldovan authorities for the progress made in the European integration process. ‘’I encourage you to work equally well in the process of Moldova’s accession to the great European family and the opening of a new mission will help you in this process. I am happy to announce a financial support of six million euros for projects from Moldova and we want a closer economic cooperation,’’ Rasmussen said.    

The ceremony on the inauguration of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Moldova will take place at the Palace of the Republic at 15:00.
