Moldovan president, representatives of Executive Committee of European Foundation for Democracy discuss support for civil society, independent media

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today met the members of the Executive Committee of the European Foundation for Democracy (EFD).

According to the presidential press service, EFD supports and promotes the democracy and human rights in the European Union’s partner countries, through the financing of the projects and initiatives which contribute to the consolidation of the civil society, promotion of the transparent governance and of the democratic values.

The organization’s Executive Committee brought together in Chisinau, after it had backed the civil society and the independent media during the last decade.

At the meeting, President Maia Sandu appreciated the impact of these projects and urged the Fund to further support the civil society and the independent media, which are essential in the process of democratic consolidation in Moldova.
