2024-2026 Economic Reform Programme approved

Chisinau, Feb. 1 /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Finance announced that the 2024-2026 Economic Reform Programme (PRE) has been approved, in the context of Moldova's participation for the first time in the annual economic and financial analysis exercise for the candidate countries for the European Union.
The Economic Reform Programme aims to prepare the Republic of Moldova for future participation in the coordination and governance of the EU's economic policy. The document proposes improving structural reforms to support macroeconomic stability, boost competitiveness, encourage conditions for inclusive growth and job creation.
The document has a standard structure, followed by all the candidate countries, being developed based on the data provided by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the National Bank of Moldova, the National Statistics Bureau and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. It is to be set up and presented to the European Commission annually.
The document represents an instrument similar to the European Semester for EU member states. Moldova's participation in the Economic Reform Programs is important for the progress in the EU accession process, in particular to meet the economic criteria from Copenhagen, namely, a functional market economy, ability to face competitive pressure.
