Chisinau, 1 February /MOLDPRES/ - The agricultural producers whose harvest of maize was hit by the drought at a level of 60 per cent in the summer of the 2023 year will benefit from financial support for the partial compensation of the damages. To this end, a sum of 50 million (2.5 million euros) was allocated from the intervention fund. A decision to this effect was adopted at a meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) on 31 January.

The financial support will be provided also to the farmers from the northern Edinet district, who recorded damages in orchards, in the wake of the storms and hail from last July.

„Both categories of farmers hold damage and inspection reports. The application on the providing of the financial support, along with the original documents, accompanied by copies, will be submitted by the applicant or his/her legal representative to the subdivisions of the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA)  in the territorial area where the applicant for financial assistance works. The financial resources will be provided to the applicants in form of direct payment per hectare,’’ the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) said.

The initiative belongs to MAIA and was announced on 16 January and backed by the government.
