Moldovan parliament elects new deputy speaker

Chisinau, 1 February /MOLDPRES/ - Doina Gherman has been elected as deputy parliament speaker. The parliament adopted a decision to this effect today.  

The election of a new parliament speaker takes place following the resignation from this office of MP Mihail Popsoi, sworn in the position of foreign affairs minister.     

Also today, the parliament approved amendments to the nominal composition of the parliament’s standing bureau. Under the decision,  lawmakers Olesea Stamate and Mihail Popsoi were excluded from the standing bureau and MPs Ion Groza, Adrian Belii and Larisa Voloh were elected as members of the bureau.   

At the today’s plenary meetings, the lawmakers approved amendments to the nominal composition of more parliamentary commissions. Thus, Veronica Rosca was nominated as head of the juridical commission for appointments and immunities and MP Adrian Belii was appointed as head of the commission for social protection, health and family. The lawmakers also made changes to the composition of the commission for foreign policy and European integration. MP Ina Coseru was nominated as the head of this commission. Also, the commission for economy, budget and finances will have a new position of deputy head, held by MP Dorian Istratii.   

There are 11 standing commissions in the parliament of the 11th legislative period. The factions appoint their members to the standing commissions, taking into account their proportional representation in parliament.
