Co-rapporteurs of Monitoring Committee of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe to come to Chisinau

Chisinau, 2 February /MOLDPRES/ - The co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will pay a fact-collecting visit to Moldova on 4-7 February.  

According to parliament’s communication and public relations department, during the visit, the sides will bring for discussion subjects on the political situation, the electoral reform and the one in the justice sector, parliamentary control and combating corruption.   

The co-rapporteurs of PACE’s Monitoring Committee have planned meetings with Moldova’s leadership – President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Also, the agenda includes discussions with the heads of the parliamentary factions and the members of the parliament’s delegation to PACE.      

The officials will also have discussions with the leadership of the Justice Ministry, as well as with Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and Deputy PM, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihail Popsoi.   

The visit’s agenda also comprises meetings with the members of the Superior Council of Magistracy, the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Supreme Court of Justice, National Integrity Authority and the Central Electoral Commission.      

The co-rapporteurs will go to Comrat, where they will discuss with the president of the People’s Assembly (local parliament) of Gagauzia, Dmitri Constantinov, and representatives of the factions of the People’s Assembly and local organizations of the civil society.    

The delegation will be made up of the co-rapporteurs for the fulfillment of the obligations and commitments by Moldova, Pierre-Alain Fridez, Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica and Bas Klein.
