PHOTO General Police Inspectorate receives donation of 18 vehicles, body cameras on behalf of UNDP Moldova, government of Japan

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - The General Police Inspectorate (IGP) today received a donation of 18 vehicles and 125 body cameras on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Moldova and the government of Japan.    

At the event on the delivery of the assets, Interior Minister Adrian Efros said the donation was of major importance in achieving the goals of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) sustainable development. ‘’We thank the development partners for the fact that they contribute to the enhancement of Moldova’s resilience for the benefit of the citizens,’’ the official said.    

For his part, IGP Head Viorel Cernauteanu said the donation was to be delivered to the subdivisions from Moldova. ’’The basic objective of the police is to ensure the public security. We thank a lot for the support provided and for partnership for the benefit of the citizens,’’ Viorel Cernauteanu stressed.   

Attending the event, Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yamada Yoichiro noted that the donation would contribute to the safety and efficiency of policemen’s work. At the same time, the official reconfirmed the support for Moldova. ‘’Japan will continue to be with Moldova and Ukraine in their efforts to overcome the challenges of the external forces and getting a better future through the accession to EU,’’ the ambassador said.   

Also, UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova Daniela Gasparikova specified that ‘’the vehicles and the equipment donated represent an important step in the modernization and enhancing the capacities of the police for the citizens’ safety.’’  

The donation has a value of 1 million dollars.
