Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu came up with a message to all people fond of reading, on 14 February, when the National Reading Day is marked, the presidential press service has reported.

„Each book read enriches us and each of us, either we are children or adults already, have right to meeting with our books. To facilitate the rapprochement between people and books, between authors and readers, last year, on the Reading Day, we launched the national reading promotion campaign, The Open Book. I was happy to see that so many reading clubs from all regions of the country, from big and small schools, from youth and seniors centres, from universities and colleges registered on the Open Book platform,’’ the Moldovan president said.

The head of state stressed that, in 2023, dozens of readers from Moldova and Romania had met their readers in Edinet and Calarasi, in Drochia and Falesti, in Dubasari or Anenii Noi. Also, thousands of young people had chance to see an author in flesh, to hold in their hands new editorial publications from both banks of the Prut river.

„I thank all writers who offered from their time, by creating bridges between people, between ideas and young minds. And I also thank all those people who inspire the reading clubs, without whom the getting closer to books would be more difficult. We will continue the reading promotion campaign this year as well. With new forces, with larger revolutions. So, I invite you to open all books!,’’ Maia Sandu said.
