Moldovan government improves process of management of water, sewerage supply public services

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - The sector of supply with water and sewerage will be regulated based on new provisions approved by the cabinet. Among them, there is the creation of the Information System, Management of the water and sewerage supply public services. The information system will facilitate the process of reporting by operators of the performance indexes and will contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of services provided, the government’s communication department has reported.      

The document sees the removal of the differentiated approaches between the operators which provide water and sewerage supply services. So far, only the operators from the towns, cities or districts have had right of licencing. Following the changes, all regional operators with more than 3,000 consumers in the coverage area will be licenced. At the same time, in case of settlements with a population larger than 1,000 residents, the services will be delegated to a licenced operator.     

The tariffs for the water and sewerage supply public service will be approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency.  

The ensuring of the universal access to safe aqueducts and sanitation systems is one of the goals of the European Moldova 2030 National Development Strategy and of the national development plan for 2023-2025.
