Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - The exhibitions titled, War up close, and  Fracture. Ukraine, presented by the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova, were inaugurated at the panoramic hall of the Museum of History of the Chisinau city today.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the institution’s director, Valeria Suruceanu, said that a dramatic date was marked through these two exhibitions – two years of fight for freedom and independence, which are values infringed by the enemy in Ukraine.

Attending the event, Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marko Shevchenko said that this week was marked by the days when people commemorate two years since the unleashing of Russia’s war against Ukraine and ten years since the starting of another invasion in Crimea and Donbas.

”We have here a traditional exhibition, dedicated to the Kharkiv city, which is only 40 km far from the border with Russia and which is daily attacked by bombs and missiles. Given that the distance up to the border is quite small, many of these missiles cannot be intercepted. The second exhibition is a less usual one – virtual. The Google Corporation elaborated a quite interesting site, so that each person, with the help of his/her smartphone, can have a deep impression as regards how the war in the 3D regime looks, with stereo effect. This helps people understand how important and how serious the situation is in some Ukrainian cities, why the Ukrainians do not want any agreement with the invaders, understand why the Ukrainians are against any concessions. All the invaders have done on our territory is so horrible, that this cannot be forgiven. The goal of the exhibition is that Moldova’s citizens see and understand what we, the Ukrainians, feel and how we live on these days,’’ Marko Shevchenko stressed.

The Ukrainian official handed to a group of culture people the Embassy’s diploma as gratitude and appreciation for the civic and cultural approach within the campaign, I Am Also Ukraine.

At the event, the wife of the ambassador, Olesea Shevchenko, sang a song about the war in Ukraine, written by composer Marian Starcea, lyrics by Radmila Popovici. The event ended with a recital of poems by Radmila Popovici from her volume, I Am Also Ukraine.
