Moldovan president has meeting with Romanian Senate's president

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu has welcomed President of the Romanian Senate Nicolae Ciuca in Chisinau. The officials discussed the excellent cooperation between Moldova and Romania. The sides tackled subjects in the fields of strategic interest: energy, infrastructure, economic cooperation, as well as Moldova’s accession to the European Union, the presidential press service has reported.   

„Romania is the most important political and economic partner of Moldova. At the meeting, I stressed the importance of continuing the projects on energy interconnection, including via the Suceava-Balti overhead power line, which will enhance Moldova’s energy independence. I also referred to the projects on modernization and construction of more bridges across the Prut river. These steps will contribute to the easing of the cross-border traffic, will boost the economic cooperation between the two banks and will get us even closer to Romania and EU,’’ the head of state noted.           

The Moldovan president thanked President of Romania’s Senate Nicolae Ciuca for the unconditional assistance of Romania provided to Moldova during time. She stressed that the Moldovan authorities relied much on Romania’s expertise and contribution in the European integration process.
